Paratii 2 the 96ft aero-rig schooner was conceived and built by brazilian adventurer Amyr Klink, and since her launch in 2001 has proven herself on many voyages to South Georgia and the Antarctic peninsula as well as successfully completing the first and only non-stop circumnavigation under sail of the antarctic continent from Port Lockroy and return.

From mid 2008, Spirit of Sydney Expeditions will be operating Paratii2. Their first project will be the Australian Government Antarctic Division’s project ...the Antarctic Whale Expedition, which is a groundbreaking 3 months expedition to study and tag humpback and minke whales in the extremely remote region of East Antarctica, working along the ice edge for 1500nm and carrying out important research in an area previously inaccessible to researchers except by large (carbon) expensive icebreakers.

Paratii2 is ideally suited to such work with her 15,000nm mile range under power, competent sailing ability and tough construction including 20mm aluminium hull plating. Her space and volume allow private accommodation for 12 scientists in double cabins and 4 crew, as well as a 6metre x 6metre garage with direct access to the sea.
